Material Processing

Although single emitter laser diodes are usually not powerful enough for direct material treatment, they have found its way into this application segment as seeders for fiber laser systems. With suitable amplification they are providing access to a broad variety of material processing techniques, predominantly related to glass and ceramics treatment. Especially the pulsed DFB sources at 1033nm and 1064nm in butterfly housing with a PM-fiber pigtail attached, support the straight forward integration into cost efficient fiber laser systems.

For plastics welding or solder processes the output power of the multimode broad area laser diodes – between 10W and 18W – might be sufficient, even when used in direct configuration without further amplification.
