Gas Detection
What air quality do astronauts inhale? Is a medical package hermetically sealed? Is an industrial process safe? Does a patient get enough oxygen?
These and many other questions can be easily answered with laser based absorption technique for quantitative measurements of various gases. Tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS, sometimes referred to as TDLS, TLS or TLAS) is one of the most common laser based absorption techniques enabling contactless in situ measurements of gas concentrations.
Since the wavelength of a laser diode is tuned over specific absorption lines of the gas a small linewidth and mode-hop free tunability is important. That makes DFB lasers to the right choice for all gas detection applications enabling the exact measurement of the degree of transmission which is related to the concentration of the specific gas. A high power is important – especially for demanding applications to ensure very precise measurements.
We recommend laser diodes with isolators and thermal management that enable the adjustment of the exact wavelength. Depending on your specific needs, we offer different types of DFB lasers for gas and vapor detection with isolator, collimator, fiber or free beam – all in different package types.
